Stellantis has reported an unauthorized breach into a third-party service provider’s system that assists its North American customer service operations. The company stated on Sunday that the incident, currently under investigation, resulted in the exposure of basic contact information only, with no financial or sensitive personal data compromised. Stellantis did not disclose the number of customers affected.

Upon detecting the breach, Stellantis promptly implemented its incident response procedures and is directly contacting the impacted customers. The automotive manufacturer has informed the relevant authorities and advised customers to remain vigilant against potential phishing attacks.

In recent months, automakers globally have experienced a rise in cyber and data breaches, with threat actors disrupting operations and compromising confidential information. Earlier in the month, British luxury carmaker Jaguar Land Rover faced significant disruptions to its retail and production activities due to a cybersecurity incident, leading to factory closures until September 24th.
