A 70-year-old woman was attacked and injured at the Metrotown SkyTrain station in Burnaby, British Columbia, as reported by the police. According to Metro Vancouver Transit Police, a confrontation involving three individuals erupted at the station just before noon local time on Friday. Despite not being part of the altercation, the elderly woman suffered a leg injury from an “edged weapon.”
Constable Amanda Steed revealed that the three individuals, aged 37, 38, and 45, who were engaged in the altercation initially fled the scene but were later apprehended by law enforcement. The altercation involved two men and a woman, with two weapons discovered near the area where the incident occurred.
Following the incident, the victim received immediate medical attention from B.C. Emergency Health Services at the location and was subsequently taken to a hospital for further treatment. Constable Steed mentioned that all three suspects are currently in police custody, and potential charges for assault causing bodily harm are being evaluated.
Law enforcement officers were able to locate one of the suspects inside the Metropolis at Metrotown shopping mall with the assistance of security personnel. The other two suspects were apprehended on the SkyTrain station platform. The injured victim has been discharged from the hospital, but the emotional impact of the event remains significant, according to the officer.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, including those with video recordings on their cellphones, to come forward and provide information to assist in the investigation.
