British comedian Russell Brand has entered a plea of not guilty to fresh charges of rape and sexual assault in Southwark Crown Court. The Crown Prosecution Service revealed that the alleged incidents date back to 2009. This comes in addition to existing charges against Brand involving four women, including two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault filed in April.
The accusations span from 1999 to 2005, with one incident in Bournemouth and three in London. Brand previously pleaded not guilty to these charges in a London court earlier this year. A trial is set for June, expected to run for four to five weeks. A hearing is scheduled for the following month to determine if the new allegations will be consolidated with the ongoing case, with Brand’s legal counsel requesting more time to address the latest offenses.
Sporting a white cowboy hat and sunglasses, Brand arrived at court on Tuesday. When asked about his feelings, the comedian, who announced his conversion to Christianity in 2024, responded that he feels “blessed.” Brand, a prominent figure on British television in the 2000s known for his flamboyant style, radio hosting on the BBC, and edgy stand-up comedy, has shifted away from mainstream media in recent years. He has gained a substantial online following by sharing videos discussing wellness, conspiracy theories, and his religious beliefs.
