An investigation by a Los Angeles County grand jury is targeting singer D4vd in connection with the death of a 14-year-old girl whose decomposed body was discovered last year in a Tesla that was registered to him. The court documents revealed that prosecutors have named the 20-year-old alt-pop artist, born in Houston as David Burke, as the subject of the inquiry, with subpoenas issued for his relatives to provide testimony.

The details, which were previously sealed in California, were made public following an appeal in Texas by the singer’s family members. The documents suggest that the “target” may have committed criminal offenses, including murder, according to the laws of California.

The Tesla, a 2023 Model Y found in a state of abandonment, was reportedly registered in D4vd’s name at the address of his family members. While authorities have refrained from publicly identifying D4vd as a suspect in the case, the body of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who went missing at the age of 13 from Lake Elsinore, was discovered in the vehicle.

Upon inspection of the Tesla in a tow yard, investigators found a cadaver bag with decomposed remains, prompting further examination that revealed severed body parts. D4vd’s representatives have not responded to requests for comments, and the District Attorney’s Office has declined to provide further information.

Following the discovery, D4vd initially continued his tour but later cancelled subsequent shows and a European tour as his association with the case became widely known. The medical examiner’s office had previously stated that Rivas Hernandez had been deceased for a significant period before the discovery.

D4vd, known for his music blending indie rock, R&B, and lo-fi pop, rose to fame through social media platforms like TikTok before signing with major record labels. His touring schedule was disrupted after the incident, leading to the cancellation of shows and the European leg of his tour.
