Kelowna RCMP have reported the arrest and detention of an individual following a fire incident at Knox Mountain Park on Friday. The authorities cordoned off the park, situated in a residential vicinity near the downtown area, upon the detection of smoke and flames on the mountainside. Both the police and fire department were involved in safely escorting hikers down from the mountain.

Despite concerns about high winds in the region, emergency crews successfully contained the fire by 4:45 p.m. PT and remained at the scene for further monitoring. Knox Mountain Park, acknowledged as Kelowna’s largest natural park, covers an area of 3.85 square kilometers just north of the downtown core. Controlled burning activities were previously carried out in the vicinity on October 16.
