Martial arts icon and renowned Hollywood action figure Chuck Norris, famous for his role in “Walker, Texas Ranger” and other tough-guy characters, passed away at the age of 86 in a sudden event, as confirmed by his family in a statement released on Friday. The family expressed their sorrow over the unexpected loss, stating that Norris was surrounded by loved ones and found peace in his final moments.

Before his successful acting career, Norris excelled in competitive martial arts, becoming a six-time undefeated World Professional Middleweight Karate champion. He also established his own style of karate, known as chun kuk do, and founded the United Fighting Arts Federation, which has granted over 3,300 Chuck Norris System black belts globally. Recognized for his expertise, Norris was honored with a 10th-degree black belt by Black Belt magazine, the highest accolade in the industry.

Originally named Carlos Ray Norris and born in Ryan, Okla., on March 10, 1940, Norris faced a humble upbringing, later moving to Torrance, Calif., at age 12. His martial arts journey began during his time in the U.S. air force in Korea, where he trained in disciplines like judo and tang soo do.

Transitioning to civilian life, Norris delved into acting after a brief stint as a file clerk and a failed attempt to join the police force. His martial arts studio attracted high-profile students, including notable figures like Bob Barker, Priscilla Presley, and Steve McQueen, who inspired Norris to pursue acting. His film debut in 1968 led to a prolific acting career, starring in numerous films such as “Missing in Action” and “The Delta Force.”

In 1993, Norris achieved widespread acclaim for his role as a crime-fighting ranger in the TV series “Walker, Texas Ranger,” earning him the title of honorary Texas Ranger from then-governor Rick Perry. Despite a reduced acting schedule in recent years, Norris continued to make occasional appearances in films like “The Expendables 2” and the upcoming “Zombie Plane.”

Notably, Norris’s tough-guy persona became legendary through the viral “Chuck Norris Facts,” featuring exaggerated statements that propelled his image as a superhuman figure. Embracing the meme, Norris compiled “The Official Chuck Norris Fact Book” and authored various books on martial arts, politics, and fiction.

A vocal advocate for Christian beliefs and gun rights, Norris endorsed political candidates over the years, including President Donald Trump. Survived by five children, Norris’s legacy extends beyond his martial arts and acting career, leaving an indelible mark on popular culture.

Celebrating his birthday shortly before his passing, Norris shared a sparring video on social media, declaring, “I don’t age. I level up.”
