Netflix Canada has announced the upcoming adaptation of another popular romance novel by Carley Fortune. The streaming service has greenlit a 10-episode series based on the third book by the Canadian author, titled “This Summer Will Be Different.”
The story revolves around Lucy, who encounters Felix during a summer trip to Prince Edward Island. Despite the undeniable chemistry between them, there’s a complication – Felix happens to be the younger brother of Lucy’s best friend, Bridget. As Lucy navigates her annual visits to P.E.I., she struggles to resist the allure of Felix and the feelings blossoming between them.
The TV adaptation will be shot in Toronto and on Prince Edward Island to stay true to the novel’s settings. Carley Fortune expressed her excitement about bringing the romantic tale to life on screen, drawing inspiration from her personal experiences on the picturesque island that captured her heart.
Fortune, a renowned writer and journalist based in Toronto, is known for her previous novels including “One Golden Summer,” “Every Summer After,” and “Meet Me at the Lake.” Her latest book, “Our Perfect Storm,” is set to be published soon.
Moreover, “Every Summer After” is currently in production for television under the title “Every Year After” on Amazon Prime Video. Additionally, “Meet Me At the Lake” has been optioned for a film adaptation by Netflix and Archewell Productions, owned by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Carley Fortune’s works have gained significant recognition, with “Meet Me At the Lake” making history as the first romance title to compete in Canada Reads, championed in 2024 by Mirian Njoh. The author continues to captivate audiences with her heartfelt storytelling and engaging narratives.
