The creators of the popular TV show “South Park,” Matt Stone and Trey Parker, are standing firm in their decision to satirize President Trump in the upcoming season despite facing backlash from a group they describe as having military backing. The award-winning showrunners defended their show’s irreverent nature and recent focus on mocking Trump’s presidency, stating that “South Park” has traditionally served as America’s court jester, but now Trump seems to be taking on that role himself.

Parker highlighted the show’s history of facing criticism for its boundary-pushing comedy, noting that their role as entertainers is to bring humor and satire to societal issues. Stone added that their portrayal of Trump as a villain in the previous season was a deliberate choice to express their creative vision.

In the latest season that aired in 2025 after a hiatus, “South Park” opened with a scene depicting Trump in bed with Satan, reminiscent of their portrayal of Saddam Hussein in a previous movie. The season continued with politically charged episodes targeting various figures, including Vice-President JD Vance, former homeland security secretary Kristi Noem, and former U.S. attorney general Pam Bondi.

While some individuals mocked in the show responded differently, with Vance embracing his inclusion and Noem criticizing the focus on her appearance, U.S. officials, including the White House, expressed displeasure with the show’s content. Despite the backlash, Stone and Parker remain undeterred, emphasizing their commitment to fearless and humorous storytelling.

Parker asserted that they are not afraid of criticism and will continue to produce content that they find funny and meaningful. He concluded by stating that if they face expulsion, they are prepared to move on without hesitation, with Stone humorously mentioning his multiple residences.
