Over the weekend, a heat wave swept through British Columbia, leading to the breaking of daily high temperature records in 26 locations across the province.
According to Environment Canada, Lytton recorded the highest temperature at 36.8 C, surpassing the previous record of 35.4 C set in 2002.
On Sunday, four other communities – Lillooet, Cache Creek, Pemberton, and Port Alberni – experienced temperatures exceeding or reaching 35 C, with Pemberton hitting 36.3 C.
Even the major urban centers in British Columbia saw record-breaking temperatures, with Vancouver reaching 26.8 C, surpassing the previous record set in 1932 by 1.2 C.
Victoria also saw temperatures surpassing 30 C, breaking a record set back in 1999.
The warm weather is expected to continue throughout the week across much of the province.
Additional locations that witnessed record high temperatures on Sunday include Tofino, Whistler, Squamish, Sechelt, Qualicum Beach, Powell River, Port Hardy, Nanaimo, Hope, Abbotsford, Campbell River, and Bella Bella.
