Iqaluit RCMP is currently looking into a drowning incident that occurred in Frobisher Bay on Tuesday afternoon. According to a news release issued on Thursday, the police were informed around 2:40 p.m. that an individual was spotted swimming in the bay. Approximately 10 minutes later, authorities were alerted that the swimmer had gone under and not resurfaced.
By 3 p.m., emergency responders had retrieved the body of a 32-year-old man. The RCMP has stated that foul play is not suspected in this tragic event. The police are conducting an investigation in collaboration with the Nunavut Coroner’s Office.
