Mike O’Shea, a successful figure in the CFL, has been confirmed to continue as the head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. At 55 years old, O’Shea, who has earned the CFL Coach of the Year title twice and secured six Grey Cup championships, is set to lead the Bombers for his 12th consecutive season in 2026.
Under O’Shea’s guidance, Winnipeg has achieved playoff berths for nine consecutive seasons and participated in five consecutive Grey Cup events between 2019 and 2024, emerging victorious in the initial two appearances. The decision for O’Shea’s return comes at a crucial time as the Toronto Argonauts are in search of a new head coach following Ryan Dinwiddie’s departure to take on the role of coach and general manager for the Ottawa Redblacks.
Originally from North Bay, Ontario, O’Shea previously served as a linebacker for the Argonauts from 1996-99 and 2001-08. Subsequently, he transitioned to a special teams coordinator role with Toronto from 2010-13 before assuming the head coaching position with the Bombers.
In addition to O’Shea’s contract extension, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers also confirmed the return of general manager Kyle Walters for the upcoming season.
