Earthrise: A Canadian Astronaut’s Journey into Deep Space will narrate Hansen’s experiences as the first Canadian to venture into deep space.
The book is authored by John Larsen, a former high-ranking military public affairs official.
The Artemis II team set a new record for the farthest distance traveled from Earth, capturing the attention and admiration of Canadians. This milestone marked the first manned lunar mission in more than half a century.
The crew of Artemis II comprised Hansen, along with NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch. Throughout the 10-day mission, the astronauts conducted tests on various systems, such as communication via NASA’s Deep Space Network (DSN), and explored the effects of space travel on the human body.
Although the crew did not make a lunar landing, Hansen made history as the first Canadian and non-American to journey to the moon. The mission also offered the crew a glimpse of lunar terrains never seen by human eyes before.
