Authorities have confirmed the passing of a third individual at the Burning Man festival, following the recent announcement of two other fatalities during the annual gathering in the Nevada desert. The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office disclosed that Armando Ramirez from Truckee, California, succumbed while en route to a hospital in Reno, Nevada, located approximately 190 kilometers south of the festival grounds. The 51-year-old was declared deceased in the ambulance during the early morning hours of Friday. The cause and circumstances of his demise are pending further tests, with no suspicions of foul play involved, as stated by the examiner’s office.

The festival, known for its focus on art installations and self-expression, reported the deaths of two other attendees last week, a fact confirmed by the Pershing County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday. Craigh Mann, aged 60, was discovered deceased on Saturday around 3 p.m. local time, inside a trailer he shared with his partner, according to festival authorities and the sheriff’s office. Additionally, a man in his mid-50s faced a medical emergency and was pronounced dead after receiving urgent medical attention during the festival. Identified as Sampson Tshombe by the sheriff’s office, his passing occurred at the festival’s temporary medical facility on Thursday.

Authorities stated that there were no indications of foul play in the deaths of Mann and Tshombe, with both cases scheduled for autopsy and toxicology screening, results of which expected within six to eight weeks. This year commemorates the 40th anniversary of the festival, which kicked off on August 30 and concluded on Monday. Each year, tens of thousands of individuals converge in the desert for camping and avant-garde performances, culminating in the ceremonial burning of a large wooden figure resembling a man.

Tragically, fatalities have occurred in past editions of the festival. Since its relocation from Baker Beach in San Francisco to the Black Rock desert in 1990, over half a dozen deaths have been reported during the event, according to The Associated Press. Pershing County Sheriff and Coroner Jerry Allen mentioned in a statement on Monday that the festival typically records one fatality annually, as reported by NBC News.
