Céline Dion, a renowned Grammy and Juno award-winning musical legend, is now being honored with a Collectible Barbie doll, adding to her list of achievements as a best-selling recording artist. However, the doll’s resemblance to the Canadian singer has sparked some controversy among fans who feel it does not accurately capture her essence.

The announcement of the Céline Dion Barbie doll was made by Mattel as part of its Barbie Signature Series, which celebrates prominent figures in various fields like fashion, arts, and sports. Previous personalities honored with specialty dolls include Miley Cyrus, Whitney Houston, and Serena Williams.

The limited-edition doll, priced at $92 Cdn, pays tribute to Dion’s iconic 1998 performance of “My Heart Will Go On” at the Academy Awards, where the song from the movie Titanic won an Oscar. Dion expressed her gratitude for being immortalized in doll form, stating that she hopes it inspires people to pursue their dreams with confidence.

Despite the positive intentions behind the doll, some fans expressed disappointment with its likeness to the singer, with comments on social media pointing out the discrepancies. Some fans even compared the doll to other public figures like Lisa Rinna or Princess Diana.

In recent news, Céline Dion made a remarkable return to the stage with a series of highly anticipated shows in Europe after a six-year hiatus due to health issues. The singer had taken a break in 2022 after being diagnosed with stiff person syndrome, a neurological disorder causing pain and muscle spasms.

Dion’s triumphant comeback signifies a significant milestone in her career, delighting fans who eagerly awaited her return to live performances. Her resilience and dedication to her craft continue to inspire audiences worldwide.
