Get prepared for a new cycle of eliminations as the popular reality competition show, “Big Brother Canada,” is returning for its third season, set to premiere on CTV and Crave. Bell Media announced during its upfront presentations in Toronto that the show will kick off production in Montreal next spring, with casting information to follow at a later date.

In addition, the network will also broadcast the well-established U.S. version of “Big Brother” starting in the summer of 2027. The show’s concept, inspired by George Orwell’s novel “Nineteen Eighty-Four,” brings together a group of contestants known as houseguests in a specially designed residence where they are constantly monitored through audio and video, isolated from the outside world, and compete for a cash prize.

Participants navigate through interpersonal conflicts and evolving relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and beliefs, striving to avoid eviction from the house and elimination from the game. Hosting the Canadian revival will be lifestyle host and entertainment journalist Andrea Bain, a familiar face from CTV’s “The Social” and CBC’s “The Goods.”

Bain expressed her excitement about joining the franchise, stating on social media that being part of a show that has provided memorable moments and unexpected twists for decades is a dream come true. Bell Media’s agreement includes the show’s previous 12 seasons available for binge-watching on Crave, along with the French-language version, “Big Brother Célébrités.”

Since its inception in the late 1990s in the Netherlands, “Big Brother” adaptations have achieved success in numerous countries worldwide, from Brazil to the U.K., India to Australia. The Canadian version initially aired on Slice, a digital platform, in 2013 before transitioning to the main network Global two years later, with Arisa Cox as the host.

After facing a hiatus following its fifth season, fan demand led to the show’s renewal for a sixth season. However, disappointment arose when Global announced its cancellation in June 2024, prompting a new wave of protests from loyal viewers. Justin Stockman, Bell Media’s vice-president of global content, reassured audiences of delivering more engaging and competitive social gameplay that they have come to love.
