The thrill of fame and the sense of accomplishment are among the rewards awaiting players who emerge victorious in the World Series. The Toronto Blue Jays are on the verge of potentially clinching the championship in Game 6 against the favored Los Angeles Dodgers. Should they secure the win, it would mark the team’s first title since 1993.

In the event of a loss in Game 6, both teams will vie for victory in Game 7 the following day. Regardless of the outcome, one team will proudly lift the trophy and claim the lion’s share of a significant cash prize.

The coveted Commissioner’s Trophy, distinct from the WNBA’s Commissioner’s Cup, symbolizes Major League Baseball’s ultimate triumph. Crafted annually by Tiffany and Co. since 2000, the trophy boasts 30 flags representing each MLB team. It takes approximately six months to meticulously create this iconic award, featuring sterling silver with 24-karat gold vermeil stitching and symbolic latitude and longitude lines.

Since its inception in 1967, the World Series trophy has evolved, earning its name in 1985 with the Kansas City Royals’ victory. Initially presented in the clubhouse, the trophy ceremony transitioned to on-field celebrations starting in 1997. Nowadays, the trophy presentation occurs in front of the crowd regardless of the home team’s outcome.

In addition to the honor of lifting the trophy, the World Series champion receives a substantial cash prize. Each post-season team shares in the earnings from playoff gate receipts, but the champions receive the largest portion. The distribution of the players’ pool is structured based on percentages from various playoff games, with the World Series victors claiming 36% of the pool.

Last year, the L.A. Dodgers received a record pool of $129.1 million US, equating to $477,441 per player. Each player and manager eligible for the World Series from June 1 onward receives a full share. The 2025 World Series is anticipated to surpass last year’s earnings, fueled by ticket prices.
