Securing tickets for Friday’s game has been extremely challenging, and prices continue to climb. Game 6 tickets are averaging over $2,000 US (approximately $2,800 Cdn), while a potential Game 7 could command nearly $3,000 US (around $4,200 Cdn) on the resale market, as reported by Victory Live, a company specializing in technology and analytics for secondary-market transactions.
According to Victory Live, the average prices for Game 6 tickets have been steadily increasing each day since Tuesday. This surge in ticket prices has disappointed both dedicated baseball fans and casual supporters alike, with some sources labeling this year’s World Series as the most expensive sporting event ever held in Canada.
At present, the lowest-priced ticket available on Ticketmaster is $1,462.50 for a single spot in the Rogers Centre outfield district, while the cheapest ticket on StubHub is approximately $1,600. Comparatively, Game 6 ticket prices are trailing last year’s average resale prices for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour shows at Rogers Centre, which averaged $2,320 US. However, if the Blue Jays and Dodgers reach Game 7, ticket prices are expected to surpass that figure.
The exorbitant ticket prices have prompted Ontario Premier Doug Ford to address the issue, criticizing what he perceives as price gouging by ticket sellers. Previously, Ford’s government eliminated a portion of a law in 2019 that would have capped ticket resale prices at 50% above face value.
