Drake has finally dropped his highly-anticipated ninth studio album, “Iceman,” after teasing fans with cryptic hints for months. Alongside “Iceman,” he also surprised his audience by releasing two additional albums, “Habibti” and “Maid of Honour,” all at midnight. This triple album release, comprising a total of 43 songs spanning around two and a half hours, was unveiled during Drake’s recent livestream event, “Iceman Episode 4.”
The Canadian rapper first mentioned “Iceman” back in August 2024, following a well-publicized rap battle with Kendrick Lamar. During his tour in Australia in 2025, Drake described the album as a personal dialogue with his fans that they needed to hear.
“Iceman” marks Drake’s first solo albums since 2023’s “For all the Dogs.” This release is crucial for Drake, given his status as a prominent figure in the rap industry and his pursuit of breaking Michael Jackson’s record for the most number one songs.
The album “Iceman” dives deep into Drake’s emotions and experiences, particularly addressing his feud with Kendrick Lamar. Through tracks like “Make Them Pay,” Drake reflects on the aftermath of the feud and takes subtle shots at various individuals, including Lamar, DJ Khaled, A$AP Rocky, DeMmar DeRozan, LeBron James, and others.
Drake’s music videos for “Iceman” showcase iconic Toronto landmarks, with visuals capturing scenes at places like Sotto Sotto, Brass Rail, and even Mayor Olivia Chow’s office at Toronto City Hall. The videos pay homage to Canadian symbols, with Drake sporting a fur jacket featuring logos of popular Canadian brands.
In addition to the intense themes explored in “Iceman,” Drake’s surprise albums, “Habibti” and “Maid of Honour,” offer a diverse range of music styles. “Habibti” delves into love songs, showcasing Drake’s emotional depth, while “Maid of Honour” delves into dancehall, house, Afro-swing, and U.K. rap, creating a lively party atmosphere.
Overall, Drake has delivered a three-part musical experience that caters to various moods and tastes, solidifying his position as a versatile and influential artist in the music industry.
