A teenager from the Edmonton region is facing fresh charges after being placed under a terrorism peace bond due to suspected ties to an online network promoting violent extremism. Initially apprehended in May, the 15-year-old was subject to the peace bond initiated by the RCMP over concerns of terrorism-related activities.

Authorities expressed concerns that the youth was inclined towards engaging in terrorism-related acts through the 764 online network, which preys on susceptible youngsters frequenting gaming platforms such as Minecraft and Roblox, enticing them into private online conversations. The RCMP highlighted that the 764 network coerces young individuals into engaging in sexual acts, self-harm, and animal cruelty, with some members showcasing radical ideological beliefs and manipulating children into desensitization and radicalization towards violence.

Law enforcement officials disclosed that the recent actions stem from “escalatory behavior in a February 2025 incident.” A peace bond empowers investigators to surveil individuals displaying potential criminal behavior in the absence of concrete evidence of an actual offense.

Subsequent to a forensic examination of the teenager’s electronic devices, additional charges have been filed, including involvement in terrorist group activities, deliberate promotion of hate, making threats, and possession of child sexual abuse materials. While the identity of the minor remains undisclosed per the Youth Criminal Justice Act, it has been verified by CBC News that the individual is male based on previous court appearances.

The teenager is presently detained at the Edmonton Young Offender Centre and is set to make a court appearance on Friday.
