Macklemore Announces Solo Tour Supporting Palestinians After Being Dropped from Ed Sheeran’s Tour
Following his removal as an opening act for Ed Sheeran’s U.S. tour leg, Macklemore revealed plans for his own tour, with all proceeds going to organizations backing Palestinians. The decision came after venue owners threatened to cancel Sheeran’s shows if Macklemore remained on the lineup, according to a statement from the U.S. leg promoter to Rolling Stone magazine.
Known for his longstanding pro-Palestinian stance, Macklemore has been vocal about his support for Palestinians on various occasions. In response to his removal, he emphasized the significance of not letting the “billionaire class” dictate whose voices are heard on stage.
The rapper announced upcoming tour dates in Dublin, Paris, and London for October, named the Free Palestine Tour, featuring Macklemore “and friends.” Additional U.S. dates are expected to be announced soon.
Expressing solidarity with artists who stand up for Palestinian rights, Macklemore highlighted the importance of using platforms for meaningful causes, even if it entails risks. The tour is set to support Palestinian aid organizations, including Gaza Soup Kitchen, Palestinian Youth Movement, Jewish Voice for Peace, and UNRWA USA.
