On Friday night, witnesses alerted Saskatoon police about a physical altercation occurring between two men and another group in the parking lot of a business located in the 900 block of 22nd Street.

Upon their arrival at approximately 10:15 p.m. CST, law enforcement discovered a 29-year-old man with multiple injuries, as stated in a news release issued on Monday. According to witnesses, the opposing group, armed with a machete and bear spray, had already fled the scene before the arrival of the officers.

Customers entering the business, Granada Liquor, on Monday morning pointed out lingering red stains on the pavement.

Several individuals informed CBC that they had viewed footage of the altercation on social media and shared screenshots from the video depicting a man on the ground. The video seemed to originate from a surveillance camera positioned above the store entrance.

The wounded man is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital for severe but non-life-threatening injuries, as stated by the police. The serious assault unit is conducting an investigation into the incident.

Individuals with any information regarding this matter are urged to reach out to city police at 306-975-8300 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
