The Toronto Blue Jays secured a spot in the World Series, prompting veteran pitcher Max Scherzer to express his excitement at the opportunity to compete in the Fall Classic once again. Scherzer is set to start for Toronto in Game 3 of the World Series in Los Angeles on Monday at 8 p.m. ET, marking his fourth appearance in the prestigious event.

Following a split in the first two games in Toronto, with the Blue Jays winning Game 1 and the Dodgers claiming victory in Game 2, Scherzer, aged 41, eagerly accepted the chance to take the mound in such a significant game. With an impressive career spanning 18 seasons and playing for various teams, including the Arizona Diamondbacks, Detroit Tigers, Washington Nationals, Los Angeles, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, and Toronto, Scherzer boasts a remarkable 221-117 record and 3,489 strikeouts with a 3.22 earned-run average.

Having previously participated in the World Series in 2012 with the Tigers, twice with the Nationals in 2019, and once with the Rangers in 2023, Scherzer’s accomplishments include three Cy Young Awards and being an eight-time all-star. Despite his accolades, Scherzer remains a devoted fan of baseball and its rich history, acknowledging the unpredictable nature of the game and the need to approach each day prepared for any outcome.

Initially left off Toronto’s roster for the American League Division Series, Scherzer’s pivotal performance in Game 4 of the AL Championship Series against the Seattle Mariners showcased his resilience and skill. Blue Jays manager John Schneider commended Scherzer’s intensity and dedication, highlighting his strategic approach and experience in navigating high-pressure situations.

Looking ahead, Schneider revealed Shane Bieber as the Blue Jays’ Game 4 starter, emphasizing the importance of balancing rest and readiness for potential future games. On the Dodgers side, manager Dave Roberts announced Tyler Glasnow as the Game 3 starter and Shohei Ohtani for Game 4, reminiscing about managing Scherzer during his time with Los Angeles and praising his competitive spirit and baseball acumen.
