New England Patriots standout wide receiver Stefon Diggs is currently facing charges of strangulation and other offenses following a dispute with his former personal chef, as reported by law enforcement authorities.
The allegations against Diggs were disclosed following a recent court session in Dedham, Massachusetts. The receiver is facing serious accusations, including felony strangulation or suffocation, as well as misdemeanor assault and battery charges.
In response to the charges, Diggs’ attorney, David Meier, released a statement denying all allegations, emphasizing that the claimed incidents did not take place and labeling them as baseless and unsupported. Meier attributed the allegations to a financial disagreement between the player and his ex-employee.
The New England Patriots expressed their support for Diggs amidst the allegations, stating, “We stand by Stefon,” demonstrating solidarity with the embattled player.
According to a police report detailed in a court filing, a woman reported to the Dedham Police Department on December 16, alleging that Diggs had assaulted her during a confrontation regarding payment while she served as his private chef. The woman recounted that Diggs struck her and attempted to choke her with his elbow during the altercation.
The chef had initially sought payment for services rendered in November, prompting the dispute. She eventually decided to press charges after returning to retrieve her belongings and encountering resistance from Diggs and his assistant regarding compensation.
Stefon Diggs, aged 32, has established himself as one of the NFL’s premier receivers, achieving significant success during his tenures with the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills. Following a lucrative free agency move to New England, Diggs has continued to excel on the field, contributing to the team’s success in securing the AFC East title.
Despite his on-field achievements, Diggs faced controversy earlier this year when a video surfaced showing him handing an unidentified substance to women on a boat. The incident raised questions, prompting internal discussions within the Patriots organization.
As the situation unfolds, Stefon Diggs remains a key player for the Patriots as they gear up for the postseason, showcasing his prowess as a top target for quarterback Drake Maye.
