The announcement of her death was made by family spokesperson Eric Alper, noting that she was surrounded by loved ones at the time. The cause of her death has not been disclosed.

Known for her exceptional talent and vibrant personality, Jordan’s musical journey began with the release of her debut album “Tell Somebody” in 1988, leading her to win the Juno Award for most promising female vocalist in 1989. Her second album, “Racine,” launched in 1992, featured popular tracks like “Make You a Believer.” Throughout her career, she received multiple Juno Award nominations for best female vocalist and served as a judge on all six seasons of the reality TV show “Canadian Idol.”

Born on December 23, 1960, in Birmingham, England, and raised in Montreal, Jordan left a lasting impact on the music industry. Geoff Kulawick, former president of Stony Plain Records, praised her as a fearless and talented artist. Her last two albums, “Rebel Moon Blues” in 2020 and “Bitches Blues” in 2022, were recorded with her husband Derek Sharp under the Stony Plains label.

Described as a powerhouse vocalist, Kulawick commended Jordan’s ability to convey deep emotions through her music, attracting a large fan base. Derek Downham, a Canadian producer and songwriter, shared his admiration for Jordan, highlighting her infectious personality and comedic nature. He fondly recalled their meeting at Toronto’s Massey Hall and their collaboration at a charity concert in Montreal.

Recognized as a trailblazer for women in rock music, Jordan’s impact transcended her music, creating space for other female artists in a predominantly male-dominated industry. Downham emphasized her resilience during challenging times and praised her for breaking barriers for female performers.

Jordan’s legacy as an inspirational figure for aspiring musicians was underscored by Downham, who hoped that she would be remembered for her pioneering spirit and love for music. Her contributions to the music world and her influence on future generations of artists will forever be cherished.
