In charge of the kicking and return game for the team, Maugeri emphasized the importance of being a top-notch teacher and providing players with the necessary tools for success. He regularly consults with head coach Corey Mace on crucial decisions during games.
Mace highlighted the significance of special teams efforts, commending players who go above and beyond their regular roles to contribute to special teams play. Maugeri, the longest-tenured member of the coaching staff, joined the Roughriders in 2016 and was eventually promoted to lead the special teams unit by former coach Craig Dickenson in 2022.
Having worked under three head coaches in a decade, Maugeri has adapted to changes and garnered recognition from his current supervisor. The Saskatchewan Roughriders are set to face the Montreal Alouettes in the 112th Grey Cup, with Maugeri playing a pivotal role in the team’s preparations for the championship game.
