SeatGeek Canada has been hit with two additional fines by the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that limits the resale of event tickets at face value. The fines, totaling $22,500, were disclosed on the province’s consumer protection website earlier this month.
The first fine, amounting to $15,000, was imposed for allegedly listing a ticket for sale or facilitating its sale above the resale price limit. The second fine, totaling $7,500, was issued for allegedly not disclosing the total ticket price when a seat was purchased from a primary seller.
Both the province and SeatGeek Canada have not yet provided details on the specific events that led to the fines or whether the company intends to challenge the penalties. This comes after the province had previously fined SeatGeek Canada $25,000 in August for similar violations.
