CBC’s reality show, The Assembly, is back for its second season, featuring six fresh celebrity interviews and a larger cast of over 30 neurodivergent and autistic adults conducting the interviews. Notable figures such as Hudson Williams (Heated Rivalry), Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover), and Jay Baruchel (This is the End) are among the celebrity guests facing the heat this season. The lineup also includes Ashley Callingbull (North of North), Lights, and Marie-Philip Poulin.
The series showcases ask-anything interviews where guests are challenged with direct and unexpected questions, delving beyond typical promotional discussions to touch on personal matters. The mix of familiar faces from the previous season and new participants adds to the show’s allure, offering unscripted and authentic interactions filled with humor and genuine connections.
Based on the French show Les Rencontres du Papotin, which debuted in 2022 and featured guests like Camille Cottin and Emmanuel Macron, The Assembly has gained international recognition with adaptations in various countries, hosting guests such as Antonio Banderas, Michael Sheen, David Tennant, and Stephen Fry.
The debut season of CBC’s The Assembly earned accolades, including a Canadian Screen Award for best direction, three Telly Awards, a Golden Sheaf Award at the Yorkton Film Festival, and a Banff Rockie Award nomination. The upcoming season promises to deliver the same heart, humor, and genuine dialogues that resonated with audiences in the past.
Produced by Vancouver’s Small Army Entertainment, The Assembly Season 2 premieres on Sunday, November 1, at 9 p.m. ET on CBC TV and CBC Gem, with exclusive “producer’s cuts” available on CBC Gem starting at 9 a.m. ET on the same day.
