Andrew Rosenfeldt discussed Saskatoon gang members in a recorded interview with the police following the tragic shooting of Nykera Brown on November 15, 2022. The video was shown during Rosenfeldt’s trial for second-degree murder at the Court of King’s Bench.
Catherine “Cat” Iron, a Crown witness, shared insights into the gang’s operations and key figures during her testimony. She implicated Rosenfeldt in Brown’s death, suggesting he attempted to disguise it as a suicide.
The trial took on a gang-themed atmosphere when a young man, a Crown witness, arrived in court dressed in black with his face mostly covered. Justice Heather MacMillan-Brown requested him to reveal his face for identification.
In the police interview, Rosenfeldt mentioned Brown’s association with the Terror Squad gang and identified individuals present in the apartment before the shooting. He denied legal representation during the interview, and Sgt. Brock Lynden expressed doubts about Rosenfeldt’s account.
Lynden, a major crimes officer, mentioned a prior investigation at the same location involving Brown. Rosenfeldt claimed that two masked men broke into the apartment after others had left, shot Brown, and fled.
Iron later testified that all four individuals present were Terror Squad members, with Brown recently promoted within the gang. She described finding a gun in the apartment, which Brown moved wearing gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints.
During cross-examination, Iron faced questions about discrepancies in her testimonies and interactions with Rosenfeldt. Tensions arose in court as allegations of signaling to external parties were raised but not substantiated.
Iron alleged that Rosenfeldt, under the influence of meth, shot Brown and attempted to stage it as a suicide. She clarified gang terminology, explaining that a “lick” referred to stripping a member of their gang affiliation for wrongdoing.
Iron confirmed her disassociation from the gang and will continue her cross-examination in court.
