The White House continues to engage with Katy Perry following her criticism of the use of her song “Firework” in a TikTok video depicting military actions against Iran. In response to Perry’s disapproval, the White House posted another video featuring her song “Part of Me,” incorporating footage of Perry in military attire from the song’s original music video alongside images of Donald Trump and military assets. This video was accompanied by the caption “Now look at me,” referencing a lyric from the song.
Trump aide Kaelan Dorr also shared the video on X, playfully tagging Perry and asking, “Hi @katyperry.” This exchange comes after Perry expressed her dismay over the unauthorized use of her music in the initial video featuring “Firework.” Despite Perry no longer controlling the rights to her earlier songs, the music was eventually removed from the contentious video.
While Perry has not responded to the latest video, other artists like Ariana Grande, Bruce Springsteen, Kesha, SZA, Sabrina Carpenter, and Olivia Rodrigo have also criticized the Trump administration for using their music without permission in various contexts.
