In the 200-meter event, Andre De Grasse, Aaron Brown, and Jerome Blake have secured spots in Thursday’s semifinals after finishing in the fourth, fifth, and fifth positions in their respective heats.
The men’s semifinals are scheduled to kick off at 8:02 a.m. ET.
Brown will be competing in heat 1 alongside two-time Olympic silver medalist Kenny Bednarek from the U.S., while Blake will be in heat 2 with Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo from Botswana and rising 17-year-old Australian talent Gout Gout. De Grasse is set to run in heat 3 against defending world champion Noah Lyles from the United States.
Only the top two finishers from each heat, along with the next two fastest overall, will qualify for the final, scheduled for Friday.

On the women’s side, Audrey Leduc, the Canadian record holder, secured a spot in the 200m semifinals by finishing fourth in her heat. Unfortunately, Jacqueline Madogo from Canada finished sixth in her heat and did not progress to the next round.
Marco Arop’s quest for a second consecutive men’s 800m world title continues in the semifinals at 8:45 a.m. ET.
With only the top two finishers from each heat progressing automatically, the Canadian athlete will be racing in heat 1 against Algeria’s Djamel Sedjati and Britain’s Ben Pattison, the bronze medalists from the 2024 Olympics and 2023 world championships, respectively.
The women’s 800m heats, starting at 6:58 a.m. ET, will feature Canada’s Jazz Shukla and Maeliss Trapeau.
Following an 11th-place finish in the 1,500m event, Gabriela DeBues-Stafford from Canada will participate in the first heat of the women’s 5,000m at 6:05 a.m. ET, while Regan Yee will compete in heat 2 at 6:33
