The excitement of the World Series has captivated the nation as fans gear up to witness the Toronto Blue Jays face off against the L.A. Dodgers.

With a 3-2 lead in the series following a remarkable 6-1 victory in Game 5 in Los Angeles, fueled by consecutive home runs at the start of the game and a proud dad capturing his son’s memorable first-pitch homer, anticipation is high for the upcoming weekend’s games.

Enthusiastic fans are making plans to gather at local bars, restaurants, or organized watch parties to cheer on their beloved teams together.

The Gaslight District in Cambridge has been showcasing the games on a large outdoor screen throughout the postseason, attracting a vibrant crowd.

“The atmosphere is electric,” remarked Scott Higgins, President of The Gaslight District, during an interview on CBC K-W’s The Morning Edition with host Craig Norris.

The City of Kitchener has also joined in the festivities by announcing watch parties, Mayor Berry Vrbanovic emphasizing the city’s commitment to celebrating together and rallying behind the Blue Jays as a community.

Vrbanovic expressed, “So many Kitchener residents have expressed their desire to partake in the excitement of the games at our exceptional facilities alongside their peers and neighbors.”

“Whether you are a lifelong baseball enthusiast or simply enjoy the thrill of a high-stakes series, this is a fantastic opportunity to unite as Canadians and embrace the essence of sports and community.”

As a show of support for the Toronto Blue Jays, Kitchener’s city hall and The Aud will be illuminated with blue lights.

Where to enjoy the games

Cambridge:

All games are being broadcasted at The Gaslight District. Attendees can join for free, bringing along lawn chairs, refreshments, and dressing appropriately for the outdoor viewing.

Kitchener:

  • Game 6: Friday — No public watch party scheduled due to Halloween
  • Game 7 (if required): Saturday at The Aud

Additionally, Bobby O’Brien’s in downtown Kitchener will display the game on their outdoor television.

Waterloo:

Legion Branch 530 will host watch parties for each game, offering food and beverage specials with doors opening at 7 p.m., including $2 hot dogs.

If the series extends to Game 7, Uptown Waterloo BIA will also organize a watch party on Saturday night for fans to catch the decisive match.

Guelph:

Guelph Little Theatre is arranging watch parties for all games, with free admission while encouraging cash and food donations for the Guelph Food Bank. Registration is necessary.

Furthermore, the city and Downtown Guelph BIA will host a watch party on Friday evening starting at 7 p.m. in Market Square, with outdoor viewing, requiring attendees to bring seating and weather-appropriate attire. Donations for the Guelph Food Bank will be welcomed.

In the event of a Game 7, a watch party will also be organized by the city and BIA on Saturday.
