Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams, two star defensive players for the New York Jets, have been involved in separate high-profile trades. The Jets made the moves to revamp their team, aiming to end the longest active playoff drought in the NFL.

Gardner, a standout cornerback, has been traded to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for two first-round draft picks and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell. As part of the deal, the Jets will receive the Colts’ first-round picks in 2026 and 2027.

On the other hand, Williams is set to join the Dallas Cowboys after the Jets agreed to a trade that includes a second-round pick in 2026, a first-round pick in 2027, and defensive tackle Mazi Smith. The Jets will also secure the superior of the Cowboys’ two first-round picks in 2027.

In a bid to strengthen their defense, the Cowboys also acquired linebacker Logan Wilson from the Cincinnati Bengals, while wide receiver Jakobi Meyers moved to the Jacksonville Jaguars from the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for draft picks.

Additionally, the Seattle Seahawks acquired wide receiver Rashid Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints, providing quarterback Sam Darnold with another offensive option alongside Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Gardner, a two-time All-Pro selection, had signed a lucrative contract extension with the Jets before being traded to the Colts. Similarly, Williams, a three-time Pro Bowl pick, is under contract with the Cowboys through 2027.

The reigning Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, have also been active before the trade deadline, making strategic acquisitions to enhance their roster. The Eagles added edge rusher Jaelan Phillips and cornerbacks Michael Carter II and Jaire Alexander to bolster their defense and increase their chances of a successful title defense.

The Baltimore Ravens also made a move to strengthen their defense by acquiring edge rusher Dre’Mont Jones from the Tennessee Titans for a conditional fifth-round pick, addressing a key position need on their roster.

Several other trades have taken place in recent weeks across the NFL, with teams making strategic moves to improve their rosters and address specific needs as the season progresses.
