Prime Video has announced that Stephen Kalyn and Mika Abdalla will take on the central roles in Season 2 of “Off Campus” as Dean Di Laurentis and Allie Hayes. Kalyn, a Canadian from Markham, Ont., portrays the charismatic hockey defenceman, while Abdalla stars as Allie, a student at Briar University who works at the college bar frequented by Dean and his hockey teammates.
The streaming platform unveiled the news through a video and promotional photos, highlighting the show’s shift in focus, which aligns with the book-by-book concept of “Off Campus.” Each season of the series, inspired by Elle Kennedy’s bestselling novels, revolves around a different couple. Season 1 was based on “The Deal,” featuring Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham, while Season 2 is anticipated to draw from the third book, “The Score,” focusing on Dean and Allie.
Louisa Levy, the creator and co-showrunner, expressed excitement about continuing Allie and Dean’s storyline as the primary romance in Season 2, while emphasizing that Hannah and Garrett will remain integral to the show. Additionally, new faces will join the cast, including Philippa Soo as a theatre artist directing a play at the university drama department and India Fowler as Grace Ivers, the love interest of hockey player John Logan.
Returning series regulars include Ella Bright, Belmont Cameli, Antonio Cipriano, and Jalen Thomas Brooks. “Off Campus” has proven to be a hit on Prime Video, becoming the top show on Amazon Prime Video in Canada. The series, which premiered all eight episodes on May 13, garnered 36 million global viewers within its first 12 days, solidifying its position as one of the streamer’s successful debut seasons.
