A U.S. citizen and intensive care nurse, Amanda Trebach, found herself in an unexpected situation when she was forcefully detained by federal agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during an encounter in August. The incident unfolded as Trebach and members of an activist group were monitoring ICE activities in Los Angeles. Despite being released without charge later, Trebach described the ordeal as a violation of her rights.

The detainment of U.S. citizens by immigration enforcement is not an isolated incident. Recent investigations revealed that more than 170 U.S. citizens have been apprehended by ICE. Legal experts like Jonathan Zasloff from the University of California, Los Angeles, criticize ICE’s actions, highlighting the lack of accountability for constitutional violations.

The aggressive enforcement tactics employed by ICE have sparked concerns, with incidents of citizens being detained during immigration raids. The narrative suggests a push towards a more authoritarian system, prompting protests and legal challenges against the perceived violation of constitutional rights. Despite ongoing deportations and enforcement operations, voices opposing these actions are growing louder, signaling a potential shift in public sentiment.
