Seinfeld star Jason Alexander, aged 66, has issued a public apology to reality personality Courtney Stodden, 31, following her Instagram post accusing him of inappropriate behavior during a comedy sketch they both participated in when she was a minor. Stodden revealed that she was 17 at the time of filming the Funny or Die sketch, a parody of daytime talk shows like Dr. Phil.
The sketch depicted Alexander using his cellphone on Stodden’s chest due to a supposed lack of signal elsewhere, with inappropriate comments included. Stodden shared a screenshot of the sketch, originally aired in 2012, expressing her current disbelief at the situation.
In her post, Stodden detailed the uncomfortable interactions during the sketch, highlighting Alexander’s behavior and remarks. She also pointed out that Alexander was credited as a writer for the episode, adding to her confusion and discomfort in retrospect.
In response, Alexander publicly apologized to Stodden, acknowledging the inappropriateness of the sketch and expressing regret for any distress caused. Stodden has been a vocal advocate against child marriage and exploitation in the media industry following her high-profile marriage to actor Doug Hutchison at 16, which ended in divorce in 2020.
Stodden emphasized the need for protective laws for minors in such situations, stating her resolve to speak out for the rights and safety of children in the industry.
