Trick-or-treaters in P.E.I. are facing a Halloween schedule change due to an upcoming weather system. Environment Canada’s special weather statement predicts heavy rain and strong winds hitting the Island on Friday, prompting Charlottetown, Cornwall, and Stratford to delay trick-or-treating until Saturday. The safety of children is the top concern for these municipalities. Summerside and Warren Grove have also rescheduled their Halloween activities to Saturday.

Corey Frizzell, a Cornwall town councillor, emphasized caution in light of the expected severe weather conditions. The decision to postpone Halloween has received positive feedback from residents like Danielle Jesso, who believes it is wise to prioritize safety and ensure a better experience for the kids.

The weather forecast indicates the heaviest rainfall and strong winds will occur on Friday afternoon. While some areas may experience torrential rain, Saturday is predicted to be milder but cooler with scattered showers. The impact of Hurricane Melissa is contributing to the current weather pattern.

Environment Canada advises Islanders to prepare for the inclement weather by clearing storm drains and securing outdoor items. Residents are encouraged to check with their local municipal councils for the latest updates on Halloween plans in their community.
