Cyndi Lauper transformed the message of empowerment with her rendition of “True Colors” at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The event also featured electrifying performances by Outkast, Soundgarden, and the White Stripes.

During her set, Lauper passionately encouraged the audience, exclaiming “don’t be afraid!” while raising her fist in a powerful gesture. She later collaborated with Raye for “Time After Time” and Avril Lavigne for “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.” The stage saw a dynamic moment when Salt-N-Pepa joined in, adding to the energy of the night.

Chappell Roan, adorned in a showgirl-style headpiece, honored Lauper’s impact on the music industry, emphasizing her unique style and sound. Lauper, in her speech, acknowledged the trailblazing women who paved the way for her and expressed her support for the female artists following in her footsteps.

The evening included a memorable all-star jam session, where Lauper, along with other artists, paid tribute to Joe Cocker and the late Chris Cornell of Soundgarden. Salt-N-Pepa’s induction highlighted the influence of women in music, with Cheryl “Salt” James emphasizing the resilience needed to navigate the industry.

Outkast’s appearance, although not a joint performance, was filled with gratitude and nostalgia. Andre 3000 delivered a heartfelt speech, reminiscing about the duo’s humble beginnings and the journey that led them to the Hall of Fame. The absence of Meg White from the White Stripes reunion did not dampen the excitement, with other artists delivering powerful renditions of the band’s iconic songs.

The emotional segment dedicated to Soundgarden paid tribute to the late Chris Cornell, with bandmates and special guests honoring his legacy through heartfelt performances. The night also featured tributes to absent inductees, such as Sly Stone and Warren Zevon, showcasing the enduring impact of their music on the industry.

The event was a celebration of music legends and a testament to the diverse and influential voices that have shaped the rock and roll landscape.
