Two days after their World Series defeat, John Schneider has been selected as a top contender for the American League Manager of the Year award for leading the Toronto Blue Jays to success. The recipient of this accolade, decided by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, will be unveiled on November 11th. Alongside Schneider, the finalists include Dan Wilson from the Seattle Mariners and Stephen Vogt from the Cleveland Guardians.

Schneider, who has been managing for four years and completed his third full season, orchestrated a remarkable turnaround for the Blue Jays. After finishing at the bottom of the AL East with a 74-88 record in 2024, the team bounced back in 2025 with a strong 94-68 performance, clinching the division by defeating the Tampa Bay Rays 13-4 in a tiebreaker over the New York Yankees in the last regular-season game.

Following their division win, the Blue Jays embarked on an exhilarating postseason journey. They triumphed over the Yankees in a four-game division series and the Mariners in a seven-game championship series before ultimately succumbing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a thrilling seven-game World Series showdown.
