Chrysler’s parent company, Stellantis, announced on Friday a recall of more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks globally due to a seat belt issue. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026, which may have a second-row center or driver side seat belt buckle anchor that was improperly attached to the vehicle’s body structure. This issue could compromise the second-row seat belt system’s effectiveness, potentially increasing the risk of injury to occupants. Stellantis has reported one injury linked to the recall but no fatalities.
The recall encompasses 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 outside of North America. Stellantis will notify affected vehicle owners to contact dealers for inspection scheduling. Dealers will examine the second-row center and driver seat belt buckle anchor and, if necessary, correctly secure it to the vehicle’s body structure.
