The legal documents from Pennsylvania reveal that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter has officially removed Cruise from her last name. Suri Noelle, aged 20, is currently residing in Pittsburgh and studying at Carnegie Mellon University. The decision to adopt the surname Noelle is believed to be a nod to her mother, Katie Noelle Holmes, known for her role in Dawson’s Creek.
Reports suggest that Suri has been estranged from her father, Tom Cruise, since the age of seven. Following Cruise and Holmes’ divorce settlement in 2012, the media portrayed Holmes in a positive light, depicting her as breaking free from a marriage influenced by the Church of Scientology. Despite initial intentions of co-parenting, Holmes has predominantly raised their daughter independently in New York City.
The exact timing of the name change remains unclear. However, it was noted that Suri Noelle’s name was listed as such during her high school graduation in 2024. This change in surname aligns with a trend among celebrity children distancing themselves from their fathers after high-profile divorces.
In a similar vein, five of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s children have either legally or publicly removed Pitt from their last name. Additionally, Britney Spears and Kevin Federline’s 20-year-old son recently altered his Instagram handle from Sean Preston Federline to Sean P. Spears as reported by People magazine in April.
