British actor Jonathan Bailey has been named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2025, taking over the title from John Krasinski. Bailey expressed his gratitude for the honor during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Bailey captured hearts with his role as Prince Fiyero in the 2024 film adaptation of Wicked and as Lord Anthony Bridgerton in the Netflix series Bridgerton. He also received an Emmy nomination for his performance in the Showtime show Fellow Travelers and starred in Jurassic World Rebirth.
Known for his British charm, Bailey has become a favorite among fans online and was recognized as one of the Internet’s Boyfriends. In his acceptance speech on The Tonight Show, Bailey described the title as a lifetime honor.
As an openly gay man, Bailey is the first of his kind to receive the Sexiest Man Alive title. He has also established The Shameless Fund to support LGBTQ+ causes, acknowledging the challenges faced by the community.
Bailey’s acting journey began at a young age, inspired by a production of Oliver! He fulfilled his dream of becoming an actor by joining the Royal Shakespeare Company at a young age. With an extensive stage career, Bailey recently starred in Richard II in London.
The tradition of Sexiest Man Alive dates back to Mel Gibson in 1985, with notable recipients like Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Dwayne Johnson. Bailey, featured on the cover of the upcoming People magazine issue, shared his excitement with his dog, Benson, who will also make an appearance in the publication.
