It has been two and a half years since a civil conflict erupted in Sudan due to a power struggle between the military and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The United Nations has labeled it the most extensive humanitarian crisis globally, resulting in over 150,000 fatalities and displacing more than 12 million people.
Recently, the RSF gained control of the northern city of El Fasher, marking a significant shift in the conflict as they now dominate all urban areas in Darfur. For over a year, hundreds of thousands of individuals, many of whom are displaced and vulnerable, have been trapped in El Fasher without adequate access to essential supplies like food and medicine.
Sudanese political analyst Dallia Abdelmoniem sheds light on the situation in El Fasher, the ongoing conflict in Sudan, and the various factors at play, including the involvement of foreign entities.
